Day 1 Warsaw
Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.
Day 2 Warsaw
Breakfast. Start of the visit with the Palace of Culture and Science, the tallest building in the city built in the socialist realist (Stalinist) architectural style and visit to the Royal Lazienki Gardens. Then you can see the places of martyrdom during the Nazi-German occupation: area of the former Warsaw Ghetto, the Heroes of the Ghetto monument, Umschlagplatz, site of deportation of Jews. Continue with the Royal Route, the University of Warsaw, the President's Palace, Piłsudski Square with the National Theatre, the Royal Castle. Walk through the UNESCO-listed Historic City Center, Sigismund's Column, the market square, the walls, Barbakan, the house of Marie Curie Sklodowska, the Warsaw Uprising Monument. Lunch and rest of the day free. Accommodation.
Day 3 Warsaw / Auschwitz / Krakow
Breakfast. Departure for Oswiecim, about 60km from Krakow, known by its German name: Auschwitz. Visit to the former concentration camp, built by the Nazis in 1940, which, together with another camp built in 1942 in Brzezinka (Birkenau), became the place of extermination of one and a half million people. Arrival in Krakow and walk through the historic center. Free lunch. Dinner at a typical restaurant with local folklore. Accommodation.
Day 4 Krakow
Breakfast. Guided walking tour of the former capital of Poland, Krakow. Walk through the UNESCO-listed Historic Center, during which you can see the Collegium Maius (entrance not included), the Barabakan, Florianska Street and the walls, to the Cloth Hall. Also see the Marian Basilica (entrance not included) with the fabulous altar of Wit Stworz. Listen to the trumpeter. Visit to Wawel Hill, where the Cathedral and Wawel Castle are located (entrance not included). Lunch. In the afternoon, optional visit (not included) to the Wieliczka salt mines, World Heritage Site: descend the long stairs to the core of the mines, and walk through the galleries in which authentic works of art have been carved; the ascent will be by elevator. Return to the center of Krakow. Accommodation.
Day 5 Krakow / Zakopane / Krakow
Breakfast. Departure for Zakopane, arrival and visit to this village in the Tatry mountains. Zakopane is not only famous among winter sports enthusiasts but also among connoisseurs of art and architecture. In the city and its surroundings, the original wooden architecture stands out, represented in numerous houses and churches with characteristic sharp roofs. Walk along Krupowki Street and visit its wooden churches. Tasting of Oscypek mountain cheese (regional product). Lunch. During the afternoon you can do an optional activity (not included) of climbing by funicular to Gubalowka hill to observe the panoramic view of the Tatras and Zakopane or, if conditions permit, take a horse-drawn snow sleigh ride. Return to Krakow and accommodation.
Day 6 Krakow / Wroclaw
Breakfast. Departure for Wroclaw, capital of Lower Silesia, famous for its dwarves, its architecture and the bridges over the branches of the Oder River. Upon arrival, lunch and panoramic tour of the city. Discover its main most representative places such as the University of Wroclaw (entrance not included), the main square, the house of the gnomes and Hansel and Gretel, the town hall and the flower square. Continue the walk on foot through the bridges over the canals of the Oder River to the island of Ostrow Tumski and visit the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Between November 18 and December 31, you can enjoy the Christmas markets in the historic center of the city. Accommodation.
Day 7 Wroclaw / Warsaw
Breakfast. Departure for Warsaw at the agreed time (the transfer may be done by train in second class seats for operational reasons). Arrival, lunch and free afternoon. Accommodation.
Day 8 Warsaw
Breakfast. At a time to be arranged locally, transfer to the airport.
