FASCINATING OMAN
Indicative itinerary subject to changes until departure date
Day 1 Muscat
Arrival, visa procedure, transfer to the hotel and accommodation.
Day 2 Muscat
Breakfast. Visit to the capital of the sultanate, founded in the 1st century and located on the Arabian Peninsula. Visit to the Grand Mosque of Sultan Qaboos, an architectural masterpiece built with sandstone and polychrome marble. In the main prayer hall under the immense dome stands out a beautiful Swarovski chandelier and a Persian carpet of gigantic dimensions. Departure for old Muscat and walk outside the Al Alam Palace, residence of the Sultan. Continue and stop for a panoramic view of the Portuguese forts, Jalali and Mirani, which protected the old commercial port. Visit to the traditional neighborhood of Muttrah where you can walk through the souk. Return to the hotel and accommodation.
Day 3 Muscat / Tanuf / Al Hamra / Jabal Shams
Breakfast. Departure for Jabal Shams. Stop and visit en route to the small town of Tanuf, located halfway between the two largest cities in the region, Nizwa and Bahla. Continue to Al Hamra, where you can take a short walk through the mud houses over 400 years old that make up its old part and where you can see the old falaj systems that are still used for irrigation. Within the mountainous area of the country, visit to Misfat Al Abriyeen, located more than 1000 meters above sea level and offering wonderful views of the agricultural terraces that surround it. Arrival at Jabal Shams and check-in at the hotel. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 4 Jabal Shams / Nizwa / Wahiba Sands
Breakfast. Departure towards Nizwa, the interior and historic capital of Oman. Time to walk through the famous souk known for its crafts: silver, Omani daggers, ceramics, baskets, Bedouin fabrics... Visit to the fortress, with its imposing watchtower and from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Nizwa palm grove, the mountains, the mosque dome, etc. Departure for Wahiba Sands. A driver will transfer you in 4x4 vehicles to the camp. During the journey, climb to the top of the dunes to contemplate the sunset. Dinner and accommodation at the camp.
Day 5 Wahiba Sands / Wadi Bani Khalid / Ras al Hadd
Breakfast. We recommend getting up early and attending one of the greatest shows that nature offers us, witnessing a sunrise in the desert. Return to the town of Biddiyah in 4x4 vehicles to continue by bus to Wadi Bani Khaled, one of the most impressive wadis in Oman, where you can enjoy a swim surrounded by palm trees and paradisiacal rivers. Departure for Sur and accommodation. Optionally, early dinner at the hotel and departure for the Ras al Jinz natural conservation center, where you can visit the turtle museum and later watch the turtles laying eggs on the beach. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 6 Ras al Hadd / Wadi Tiwi / Bimah Sinkhole / Muscat
Breakfast. Departure by road to Wadi Tiwi, a precious village surrounded by fruit tree crops. Returning to Muscat, stop at Bimah Sinkhole, a gulf with a circumference of 100 meters around a crater under the sea. There will be the possibility to swim in its crystal-clear waters. Return to Muscat and accommodation.
Day 7 Muscat
Breakfast. Free day with the option of taking different optional excursions such as optional cruise with dolphins and snorkeling or traditional dhow ride at sunset. Accommodation.
Day 8 Muscat
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport.
Observations:
- The best time for turtle nesting activity is from May to September. In case of not being able to carry out the activity, there will be no refund.
- Entry to the Grand Mosque of Muscat is prohibited for children under 10 years old. For the visit, women must wear long clothes and a scarf on their head. Men must have their arms and legs covered. Open from Saturday to Thursday from 08:00 to 11:00.
- In general, the hotels and camps of Oman are simple establishments. Check the option of staying at the beach at the end of the itinerary.
