Day 2 Reykjavík / Reykholt / Snæfellsnes Peninsula
(170 km) Departure north crossing the toll tunnel (not included) that crosses the Hvalfjörður fjord. At Deildartunguhver, visit Europe's largest hot spring. Continue to Reykholt to admire the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. Accommodation.
Day 3 Snæfellsnes Peninsula
(150 km) Departure to the small fishing village of Arnarstapi, where you can admire the impressive basalt cliffs. Continue to the black sand beach of Djúpalónssandur, with its spectacular rock formations, natural pools and the Gatklettur rock arch. Continue along Snæfellsjökull National Park, where you'll have impressive views of the Snæfell volcano, which inspired Jules Verne's famous "Journey to the Center of the Earth". Continue through enormous lava fields, passing the famous Kirkjufell, one of the most photographed places in the country. Accommodation.
Day 4 Snæfellsnes Peninsula / Patreksfjörður
(135 km) From Stykkishólmur, it's recommended to take the Baldur ferry (crossing not included) to Brjánslækur, located in the Westfjords area. You'll cross one of Iceland's most uninhabited places, where mountains and fjords predominate. Arrival in Patreksfjörður. Accommodation.
Day 5 Patreksfjörður
(120 km) Departure towards Látrabjarg, where a grand cliff awaits with colonies of puffins that concentrate here in summer. On the return, detour to visit the famous red sand beach of Rauðasandur. Accommodation.
Day 6 Patreksfjörður / Ísafjörður
(180 km) Departure north to the town of Ísafjörður, where you'll have the opportunity to appreciate the steep mountains and deep fjords. A stop at Dynjandi waterfall is recommended. Accommodation.
Day 7 Ísafjörður / Blönduós Area
(395 km) Today's journey involves a long route towards the mainland part of the island. Accommodation.
Day 8 Blönduós Area / Goðafoss / Lake Mývatn Area
(220 km) Following the main road, you'll reach the Skagafjörður region to visit Víðimýri church and the Glaumbær museum. Continue to the Skagafjörður region, known for horse breeding. Departure to Akureyri, Iceland's second largest city. After the visit, continue to the impressive Goðafoss waterfall. Accommodation.
Day 9 Lake Mývatn Area / Húsavík / Lake Mývatn Area
(130 km) In the morning, optionally we recommend taking a whale watching excursion from the port of Húsavík or Hauganes. In the afternoon, continue to explore the Lake Mývatn area through the extraordinary volcanic landscape. A relaxing bath in the "Mývatn Nature Baths" thermal lagoon is recommended. Accommodation.
Day 10 Lake Mývatn Area / Dettifoss / East Fjords
(270 km) Explore the coast along the Tjörnes peninsula and visit the Ásbyrgi canyon with its spectacular Dettifoss waterfall, Europe's most powerful. Enter the Hverir geothermal area before reaching the tranquility of the East Fjords region. Arrival and accommodation.
Day 11 East Fjords / Seyðisfjörður / Kirkjubæjarklaustur Area
(380 km) Departure to the charming village of Seyðisfjörður, surrounded by mountains and waterfalls. Continue through the East Fjords, passing small fishing villages and impressive landscapes. Arrival at the south coast, where if desired you can take an amphibious boat tour on the famous Jökulsárlón lagoon. Across the road is the curious and beautiful Diamond Beach, where small icebergs rest on the black sand shore, their reflection resembling the brightest diamonds.
Day 12 Kirkjubæjarklaustur Area / Skaftafell National Park / Kirkjubæjarklaustur Area
(195 km) Day dedicated to exploring Skaftafell National Park, where you can visit the accordion-shaped Svartifoss waterfall. We recommend doing some trekking activity in the area. Accommodation.
Day 13 Kirkjubæjarklaustur Area / Vík / Reynisfjara / Skógafoss / Seljalandsfoss / Selfoss Area
(220 km) Continue along the south coast through lava fields until reaching the small village of Vík. You can visit the Dyrhólaey promontory, home to seabird colonies including the charming puffins, as well as the iconic black sand beach Reynisfjara. Continue the journey, making mandatory stops to see the Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls. Departure and accommodation.
Day 14 Selfoss Area / Golden Circle / Reykjavík
(180 km) Morning dedicated to discovering the natural wonders of the area, including the golden Gullfoss waterfall, the famous Strokkur geyser, and Þingvellir National Park, where the tectonic rift between Europe and America is located and the site of Europe's first parliament. Continue to Reykjavík. Arrival, rest of the day free and accommodation.
Day 15 Reykjavik / Portugal
Return rental car at the airport. Check-in formalities and departure on return flight. Arrival.
