IMPORTANT NOTE: the indicated itinerary is a travel suggestion.
Day 1 Portugal / Copenhagen
Arrive at the airport at least 2 hours in advance. Check-in formalities and departure on flight to Copenhagen. Arrival and pick up rental car. Depending on arrival time, rest of the day free in the Danish capital. Accommodation.
Day 2 Copenhagen / Helsingør / Roskilde / Odense
(250 km) Departure towards Lake Elsinore, where you'll find Kronborg Castle, also known as Hamlet's castle. Continue to Hillerød to visit Frederiksborg Castle and its Danish Museum of National History. Departure towards the city of Roskilde, where you can visit the Viking Ship Museum. Cross Europe's longest bridge: the Storebælt, which connects the island of Zealand with Funen to continue to Odense. Accommodation.
Day 3 Odense / Kolding / Vejle
(105 km) Discover Odense, known worldwide as the birthplace of the famous Danish writer and poet Hans Christian Andersen, author of well-known works such as "The Little Mermaid" or "The Ugly Duckling", among others. Departure to Kolding, where we recommend visiting Koldinghus Castle, which for years was a fortress and royal residence, or for the more adventurous, have fun at "Funky Monkey Park" where you can do activities like zip-lining, rock climbing, etc. Continue to Vejle. Accommodation.
Day 4 Vejle / Billund / Aarhus
(138 km) Wake up facing the fjord of the city of the same name. Vejle is well known for its natural charm and the country's historical legacy. We recommend visiting nearby Billund, a very well-known place in Denmark where you'll find the famous Lego brick region, LEGOLAND® Park. Continue northeast to Aarhus, with a stop along the way to visit the open-air museum Den Gamle By. Accommodation.
Day 5 Aarhus / Aalborg / Frederikshavn
(180 km) Discover Aarhus, a modern city that contrasts with its historic center, which doesn't coincide with its monumental city center, as it's formed by a collection of old houses built stone by stone brought from different parts of Denmark. Departure to the north of the country. Stop in Aalborg. We recommend visiting Jørn Utzon's work, the Utzon Center, Musikkens Hus (house of music) or the modern art galleries of KUNSTEN. Arrival in Frederikshavn. Accommodation.
Day 6 Frederikshavn / Gothenburg
Frederikshavn is known as "the little big city", a very lively city frequented by Danes on their holidays. Departure to the port of Frederikshavn. Board ferry (included) towards Gothenburg to cross the Kattegat strait and the border with Sweden. If it's not too late, head to the "Fish Church" (Feskekôrka), a fish market designed in the shape of a church in the 19th century, which in addition to traditional stalls, has modern restaurants and takeaway food. Finally, we suggest ending the night at the famous "Liseberg" amusement park. Accommodation.
Day 7 Gothenburg / Varberg / Halmstad / Helsingborg / Malmö
(290 km) Stroll through the city's best-preserved 17th-century neighborhood, "Haga", whose labyrinth of cobbled alleys guarded by wooden houses will envelop you in a very pleasant idyllic atmosphere, where you can also take a cruise through its canals. Departure along Sweden's west coast, where you can make some stops in Varberg, a spa town, Halmstad beach or in Helsingborg, whose old port will remind you of Copenhagen's Nyhavn. Arrival in Malmö. Discover this charming city located halfway between Denmark and Sweden, separated only by a bridge, Øresundsbron, whose 16th-century historic center contrasts with new structures like Santiago Calatrava's Turning Torso skyscraper. Accommodation.
Day 8 Malmö / Copenhagen / Portugal
(45 km) Free time until your departure to Copenhagen airport. Return rental car at the airport. Check-in formalities and departure on return flight. Arrival.
